Whether it is the weekend, after hours in the evening, or you have an injury or illness that is not life-threatening but requires same-day medical attention, urgent care clinics are made for just such circumstances! At UCare Urgent Care and Walk-In Clinic, our doctors and medical providers would be happy to see you for a walk-in appointment.

Do I need to make an appointment?

At an urgent care clinic, you do not need to make an appointment in advance to see a doctor. Urgent care clinics routinely accept walk-in appointments. As such, all that you need to do to see an urgent care doctor is to visit an urgent care clinic during their open hours, and you can expect to see a medical provider in a short amount of time.

With that being said, if you want to make an appointment at an urgent care clinic in advance, you can do that too! In order to make an appointment with one of our urgent care doctors in advance at UCare Urgent Care and Walk-In Clinic, you can do so by calling us or scheduling an appointment through our website.

How does urgent care work?

Urgent care clinics function as a sort of hybrid between primary care clinics and emergency rooms, as they are not equipped to treat life-threatening emergencies, but they do accept walk-in appointments. In this way, urgent care clinics are a convenient alternative to both primary care clinics and emergency rooms when you are in need of same-day medical attention for an illness or injury that is not a life-threatening medical emergency.

The reason that urgent care clinics are more convenient in such situations is that primary care clinics typically require appointments to be made in advance, and therefore cannot guarantee a same-day appointment, while emergency rooms are often preoccupied with medical emergencies, causing individuals with less critical medical concerns to spend an extended amount of time in the waiting room.

In contrast, since urgent care clinics do not see life-threatening medical emergencies, they are able to see patients on a first-come, first-served basis with much more frequency than emergency rooms, which significantly reduces wait times. At the same time, they do conduct patient evaluations for each patient upon their arrival at the clinic to determine if they should be treated right away or if they are fit to wait in line.
